I'm sort of a used-to-flyer: I flew sailplanes during the 6 months while I lived in Leeds, England (although I never soloed). Students who helped out with the club could get winch launches for a cost of $12 per launch, and free instruction from retired RAF pilots. Also, I designed, built and flew remote control sailplanes in high school (I know -- it doesn't count). Now, I have neither free time nor income, so flying is out of the question.

Yeah, sailplanes are something I'd like to try sometime. I've never had any desire to jump out of an airplane (though it might be a valuable experience and useful skill to have), but soaring quietly up with the clouds looks really appealing ( ... )
