I will add the pictures later tonight at home... BUT:

mcniadh, I will be returning the Thomson Elite Stem (waaaaaaay, WAY too long for moi, and the negative rise didn't work for me either...) and the seatpost (I got a black one to match the new stem). The Cane Creek C1 headset is cheap because it's heavy and it doesn't have sealed bearings. However, it is very durable, and easy to maintain, and should last a long time.

The handlebar is a Ritchey BioMax Pro.

Also, yes, it's ok to mismatch V-brakes with road brake levers if you install a "travel agent" cable adapter on each brake line.

Hey, good to know about the headset! I don't really care about shaving off a few grams, so I guess I will just leave it be for the time being. Thanks!

I will bring you back the stem and the post sometime this weekend, and reissue a check... so no worries there.

I got the tires last night! Yippie! They're red. :)

I've never had a bad experience with the people that work in independent (or small chain) bike shops. I've only had bad service at big box sporting goods stores (besides REI).

I have some experience with snobbery in some shops. It's like they feel like they have to prove they know all about bikes... dude, I wouldn't be coming to see you if *I ALREADY* knew what I needed/wanted... These guys were really laid back, and they were laughin' and jokin' and helpin' us out. I really like this place.
