I do not believe it is quite that easy to draw a correlation between distance driven and fatalities given the knowledge that the drivers are impared.

If we take your example to another level, with Santa Rosa County being able to sell liquor, it would dramatically reduce the distance people would have to drive (assumed impaired). However, with a reduction in 'container space', there is an increase in volume. In other words, the people who are impaired would now be driving shorter distances and become more concentrated in residential areas. While this may decrease fatalities from car collisions, there is an equally good chance it would increase fatalities from pedestrians being hit by impaired drivers. Having a dry county also dissuades the construction of bars and clubs. This alone reduces petty violence-related crimes.

Vote dry and keep the streets safer for the people.

The sale of liquor would boost jobs in Santa Rosa County by a marginal level as well. The stores that already sell beer would merely just being stocking liquor. This new stock would give distributors the need to install new routes which would more or less increase the capital for those companies (which are not even based in Santa Rosa County). The only jobs that would be injected would be those needed for the formation of bars and clubs.

Escambia county can keep both its bars and its clubs. It is a place where you can go and consume. Santa Rosa is a place where you can retreat and live. I personally enjoy that distinction and would rather not see Pace or any other town/city in Santa Rosa become another Pensacola.

Indeed many points made are well thought, but again I will state that going to Escambia to consume, and then retreating back to Pace as a safe haven = minimum 12 or so miles driving distance while impaired. We need to be wet AND responsible. If you're voting wet on the ballet, vote in your mind to stay smart.

Yes to the future, and No to stupidity.

That's just the thing Clifton. People are not responsible. Voting either Dry or Wet is going to make no significant difference in the larger picture. It will however keep bars and whatnot from being as much of an issue in Santa Rosa County.

Oh yes Clifton, thank you for switching your comment system back to the original Livejournal style. I should make you a sandwich for doing so. You're a cool dude. Gonna have to put some fucking onions on that sandwich and drive us to New Jersy so we can join that crazy Mariachi band. HOLY CRAP!

i agree and dissarge on some points of this crap. if we went wet, yes there would be more crime, more infulx of people, and more traffic. but the fact that most people are voting, in this county, is becuase of long held religious belifes and also the other crap mention above. MY view on the matter is, just my view, wet is better. thhough the job market wont open up, and i kinda dought the drunk driving will go up much, since we are in a county of red necks, i think it is for the best. Times HAVE changed, were not stuck in the 1920s anymore. WE as a nation cant have religous notions of beer and liquer infulance our county, state, or goverment. but it is the way here, and even in america so i cant really state that as a good argument. Wet, is indeed better, for its time to move on.
