Today Mom started teaching me how to sew. We worked for a few hours, but several of those hours were spent trying to figure out why the sewing machine wasn't working. Oooh. I got this cute little sewing machine for like, $20, cause I want to learn how to sew, too. But everytime I've tried using a machine it goes horribly wrong. This was no exception. I've resigned myself to sewing by hand, which should make for an interesting shirt....

You can have the kids be ghosts for the first couple of walking years! It's the best costume out there.

Sewing is fun. We used to do a lot of it in Girl Scouts, randomly. Camping and sewing. :-) Skirts are good to start with, and most patterns are pretty much foolproof.

Foolproof is exactly the skill level I'm at right now, so that sounds pretty good.

I spent $16 on a hand-held sewing machine - basically a motorized stitcher - which I thought would help me with hemming costumes and whatnot. Totally doesn't work...so I think the idea to invest in a proper machine is a good one!
