Katy Perry -- I Kissed A Girl

I like Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl," but it strikes me as the sort of song that would piss off an actual lesbian. Then again, it was named on Time's Entertainment Podcast as one musician's favorite "gay song" on the True Colors tour. For whatever that is worth. For what it's worth, I had the same reactions when I heard the song. And yes, it's got a good dance beat.

I watched the video and listened to a few of her other songs...it seems she might be making fun of "drunken straight" girls who do it just for show. There is a lot of subtext in the song. Overall I find I enjoy it and the small bits of controversy over it here and there.

Thanks. I used to be a poetry major in college. Sometimes I miss it, but it does make it easier to really get into the heart of catchy pop songs. :)
