work is good! it doesn't matter if all job prospects have fallen through for this year, there's always the next!
(and perhaps you should consider a post-doc in Europe - I saw some seriously interesting stuff for late antique/medieval philosophers/philologists in Leiden (I think - somewhere in Northern Europe, anyway) last year))
