Today I learned that my boss will no longer manage my group, but another person from our office will be taking over as our manager. This person is very nice, but I've never worked with her directly, so I have no data points on how this will go

loosing a great mentor (even if they're alive, losing the particular nature of that relationship) is hard :(
especially when you know there're more great things you could learn from them!

Yeah, change is hard. There's no growth without it, but that doesn't make it any more comfortable in the moment!

yeah, i'm dealing with the whole stress vs. weight thing, too. over the past few years, i would eat less when stressed, but apparently that trend has reversed. i've put on 7-9 lbs since *Flipside*!!! i'm trying to take it in stride, but it's a weird balance issue. in other words, i feel ya!!!

Yeah, my first reaction when I started putting on pounds was to not worry & just try to feel accepting of myself. But then those pounds felt so accepted that they brought friends. Then I put myself on a plan of some discipline around eating, drinking & working out, which has been making slow progress (ok, it's only been 2 weeks of real focus), but then I get all "OMG, I'm so fat!" retarded thoughts. Those thoughts do have a positive effect on my food choices & determination to hit up a workout at the end of a long day, but they also make me feel bad & I don't like my internal dialogue sounding like an self conscious 16 yr old.

Unfortunately it seem much more difficult to create internal dialogue loops that are compelling but go a bit more like "A few pounds don't make me any less beautiful, however, if I keep eating like this I will have to buy a whole new wardrobe, so let's go ahead and not eat that, dearie, ok?"

Oh, and my timeframe of indulgences has also been since flipside. Man, BBQ & beer, weather being too hot to play outside as much & mid-week holiday based on eating makes summer tough around here!
