Alex-
Two new interns will be starting on Monday. Deal with them. The guy is going to the copywriters and the girl to accounts. Unless you have some use for her - then just claim her for yourself. As long as they're productive. And find fifteen minutes in my schedule so I can talk to them.

Guy to copywriters, girl to accounts, I can do what I want with her, check. Fifteen minutes; I'm assuming you want those to be caffeinated minutes, or they'll run screaming? Because I could squeeze em in before your meetings kick off, or they'll be just before lunch. Which is all good if you plan to eat their heads.

I don't really think intern would make for a particularly tasty lunch, at least certainly not raw. Before the rest of my meetings will work.

No public barbeques. Check. If they can withstand you before coffee, least you know they'll be around some?

If the interns manage not to annoy me before the caffeine has kicked in, I might actually pay them a living wage.
And the correct response to 'here, have a minion of your very own' is thank you.

How's the new minion working out, by the way?

The minion is...interesting. I went with a tale - Alex Chase. And I spend half my time resisting the urge to strangle him and half my time thinking he's the most competent assistant I've had in years. Although I could do without the quips and sexual innuendo. He doesn't seem to be afraid of me. It's very strange.

Alex Chase? [...] Never met him in person, but I've corresponded with him with a bit through this thing. Seems like a smart kid, his mistaken approach with women aside. Wouldn't be surprised if he has a Maddona/Whore complex about them.
Think you'll have fun with that one. Keep me updated.
I'll have to get a new one, soon.

I'm getting the impression that a lot of his attitude is just for show, but he's resourceful so I haven't fired him yet. As long as he keeps me in coffee and Blackberries, I'm satisfied. He seems to think the office is hell though. I suppose that makes me Satan. [...] That works.
Oh, I'm sure there will be plenty of stories.
Finally decided you've had enough of your current one? It's inevitable in the life of an assistant, I think.
