Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert fangirling

May 24, 2009 03:22

Yesterday was full of lulz, from the pre-concert stuff, to the concert itself (Uematsu-sensei is sooooo cute) and the post-concert Q&A session.

This will be public for a while, in case sai_rin wants to link to the Q&A section or something. It's like this:

Me: Attended Q&A, missed out on queue for autographs.
sai_rin: Had to miss Q&A to get into the queue for ( Read more... )

SENSEI. OMG He's like this reeeeeally adorable grandpa who's so so so down-to-earth and friendly and adorable a-and words cannot describe him. Totally a great guy!

Well, it the first time they're touring Asia other than Japan, so maybe that's why he attended? (Arnie Roth kept telling us how lucky we were :D;;) If we have another concert, he might not be in attendance again uuuu.

If he ever comes again, you must come down! Or if Aniki brings JAM PROJECT for AFA 09. Then I can meet you guys *A*

As you mentioned, I feel that the CD and the Shirt is a good buy, whereas the artbook is a ripoff.

I left the area at about 5pm cos I had a friend waiting for me at Suntec. Well, a bit of rant here that I didn't want to put on my blog: I was supposed to get the evening tickets too, but my friends took their own sweet time, resulting in the initial two shows being sold out. So when the third show was announced, I went straight to Sistic and bought the tickets for those who confirmed. Maybe I should have gone with you instead, but I was too shy to ask. lol.

Nonetheless, the main catch of the day is still the concert experience and getting to see Uematsu Nobuo live. I actually enjoyed Arnie Roth's conducting more than Tour de Japon's Takemoto Taizo. Roth is more engaging and lively, while Takemoto is more focused on perfection.

I've already read on forums about the concert and those who attended the first show on Fri said that the book wasn't worth it, so that's why I didn't buy it. I didn't plan on buying the tee initially, but since I had a $50 note on hand, why not. =w=;

I didn't get tickets too, actually. It turned out that sai_rin's friend couldn't make for the concert so I bought it off her. I heard Arts Fest members snapped up the tickets, leaving not much for others. (In fact my ticket was an Arts Fest members' one... so I guess either sai_rin or her friend bought them.) I read on blogs too that the online system jammed within hours of opening, and people had to refresh many times. Lol let's go next time :P I'd definitely go again! ...If they ever come back. ;w;

I haven't seen Tour de Japon. Did you watch it online? Because I heard the DVD can't be found in online shops or something. Arnie Roth's a great guy! I wonder if he'll have an interpreter for the performance in Taiwan right now.

I didn't read any forums prior to the event since I wanted to be spoiler-free. Turned out I missed out all the info about kiasu people snapping up all the merchandise.

Sure. I have a feeling that if they do return, it will be Malaysia or some other country in the region, since the aim of Distant Worlds is to be a world tour after all.

Yeah. I saw Tour de Japon's videos on YouTube. I suppose Roth and Uematsu probably prepared some short phrases in Mandarin.
