I got hassled in 10/01 for trying to photograph the inside of an architectually interesting public library downtown in Cleveland. It was pretty much at that point that I had realized that the terrorists had already won.

It also makes me wonder if someone could be issued criminal charges for costs incurred by law enforcement overreaction because they absent-mindedly left a bag hanging around.

Imagine the following scenario: I hit the airport Starbucks for coffee, and leave my handbag on one of the tables by accident. I then proceed to my terminal, and when I'm boarding the airplane discover that I can find neither my boarding pass nor the handbag it was in. I race back to the Starbucks, where there are two dozen police officers and a bomb squad who have shut down the Starbucks and are quarantining everything off. When I explain the situation, I'm promptly put in handcuffs and taken to an interrogation room. Even though I have no ties to anything except maybe the school where I'm a teacher (which saw the news and decided to fire me over this).

I wonder how much stuff like that actually happens.

This moral outrage coming from you is curious considering the city in which you inhabit encourage nude dudes with their cocks a swinging to parade in the street and most likely encourage goat sex in public in the name of progression. It is ironic that we pick and choose what freedoms and liberties in which to bitch about based on what is inconvenient at the moment..
