Jamaica in Queens

Jun 28, 2014 09:26

I went to Jamaica, Queens yesterday to return my cable boxes (thus ending my cable relationship with Time Warner) and my mom had to drive locally on the way back... We drove through Jamaica Avenue, where gentrification was at its worst and had squashed out so many of the mom & pop shops that the area used to be known for. ( And it made me so mad. )

Isn't it a little late for schools to still be in session? I know all the schools in my county are out for the summer. For a New York school to still be open this late in June strikes me as strange.

Some schools had to extend their school days because of the plethora of snow days they took on. It depends on what the principal decided during the shitstorm in winter, so some school end later if they decided not to knock off their winter vacation days.

I think New York was hit harder by the winter snows than Maryland, so that makes sense.
