whitehaired CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Aizawa Kouichi, Nabari no Ou
In-Game Name: Aizawa Kouichi
Age: ~140, looks ~16
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Radio ops, 4423
Appearance:
Were it not for his white hair and red eyes, nothing in particular would draw attention to Kouichi. Granted, stranger hair and eye colors have been present in Reial, but they're honestly the only things that stand out about him on a normal day. He is of a decent height, not too tall but not short either, lean but trapped in a gangly-limbed stage. To be honest, he looks somewhat underfed, though maintains a healthy appearance otherwise. His hair is something of a spiky mess, though not enough to look unflattering. It's short, though still long enough to almost sweep into his vision and touch the back of his neck. Almost always he can be seen wearing glasses, sporting wire-framed, rounded-off rectangles.
Basically, he looks like a cute nerd.
Clothing varies with the occasion. When required, Kouichi can easily dress up, looking clean and organized. When casual, he prefers comfort and mobility, though does have a sense of fashion. It's nothing astounding, but no matter what he wears, he tends to appear neat and comfortable.
This changes a little when he's fighting hard, injured more than some cuts and bruises, or revived from a death. His hair becomes wild, almost resembling a puffed up owl. What was previously spiky becomes white feathers, just sticking out in all the same angles. His eyes actually glow, and the pupils become slitted. His fingers appear to elongate, becoming something akin to talons.
Personality:
Many could consider Kouichi personable and friendly, as he's rather chipper and upbeat a great deal of the time. He seems to be an eternal optimist, and has a great deal of faith in mankind, despite the many horrors that they present from day to day. He knows that where there is darkness, there always has to be light, and sticks to that faith as often as possible. This is relatively easy for him, considering he has an almost unending patience. Most times, even when insulted, Kouichi just brushes it off with a smile and a laugh, sometimes accompanied by a blush (or what could be called 'sweatdropping'). It's not a secret that he enjoys the company of most anyone, either, even when they tease or pick on him, and he'll even show concern for strangers. He's rather social... but, he's a little awkward around girls, easily embarrassed and prone to saying the wrong things at the wrong time. Some could easily assume he is naive.
After living for so long, seeing so many things, Kouichi is far from it. He has, well, a very owl-like wisdom to him, and it goes well with his patience. Being rather reliable, it's not difficult for him to find an answer to a question, or come up with some kind of plan for something. He just likes to see if other people will come up with them first, carefully nudging them in the right direction.
What's underneath is almost completely different, like his energetic cheer is almost a mask. Almost. Kouichi is, first and foremost, a ninja that knows what his job is and what his goals are. He has no problem with taking over a mission or situation if someone else can't handle it, even if it means killing an opponent mercilessly (perhaps it helps that he has a fascination with death, due to his own inability to die). Hesitation is almost rare when he's like this, and he's sometimes difficult to surprise.
Abilities/Weapons:
While he doesn't look like much, Kouichi has trained as a ninja for a majority of his life. He's agile and strong despite appearances, trained in stealth, and his expertise lies in throwing weapons, such as knives and shuriken. He's surprisingly quick on his feet, probably from being so used to flight and being light-boned.
He's also trained in the use of jutsu, all of which coinciding with the elements (metal, water, wood, fire, and earth). While he has a great deal of control over these jutsu, his skills are ranked as average. The reason for this is one specific jutsu that he is constantly using. It disguises him as a human (seeing as he's actually an owl), and he focuses all of his time and energy on it.
Then there's his immortality. He heals much faster than normal people, if he actually wants to, and the experiments conducted on him 140 years ago allow him to be revived from deaths.
Weaknesses:
More experienced ninjas, or even fighters in general, could overpower Kouichi. Despite the fact he is unable to die, he can easily be incapacitated for long enough that his opponent can at least tie him up so he is out of the way. The length of his death depends on the damage done; greater injuries take longer to heal, and longer for him to revive himself (though lesser injuries are also an inconvenience, still taking time for him to recover). Also, because he wouldn't just outright tell anyone about his immortality without something happening that would reveal the secret, people may assume he is permanently dead. It's very bothersome being left behind/buried/etc.
There's also magic and magic-users; he can do very little up against them and their skills, and there's a high possibility that someone experienced with magic could break his jutsu down completely, revealing his true, owl self. Guns, as well, are annoying. He's fast, but not fast enough to dodge a bullet.
Because almost all of his energy is focused on the jutsu for his human appearance, Kouichi's other jutsu remain average leveled at best. And though he is capable of quick healing, very rarely does he actually employ it. This is because it takes a great deal of energy to heal, and since over-exerting himself lets the owl traits show through, he'd rather heal normally and keep his secrets to himself. If possible, he lets himself heal like a normal person.
The thing about Kouichi's immortality is that he actually wants to die. The problem is that, even if he found a way to do so, he'd rather destroy the Shinrabashou before he was allowed death. Either way, this can be a disconcerting thing to know for his friends and companions. While he wishes for death due to a long and lonely life watching them die, he makes no attempt to distance himself from people.
History:
This can be adjusted where necessary for any canonmates that wish to apply.
Once upon a time, well over a decade ago, ninja leaders of various villages got together to combine their knowledge into one, creating the hijutsu Shinrabanshou. It became highly sought after, passing hands and hosts. None could handle all the knowledge nor the power that came with holding the hijutsu within them, though one, a medical practitioner roughly 140 years ago, lasted long enough to experiment with it. Because many of their experiments ended in failure when used on humans, they began using animals as their subjects.
Two were successful. One was an owl, the other was a cat.
Needless to say, after many fruitless attempts to give an animal a 'human heart,' Kouichi and Shijima were 'born.' The problem was that shortly after seeing the success of their project, the host of the Shinrabanshou died, and the hijutsu once again passed hands. Left among corpses of failed tests, Kouichi and Shijima decided to escape the darkness of the medieval lab and step out into the world.
While Shijima often maintained her image as a cat (though still capable of taking on a human form, and doing so many times), Kouichi preferred to take on the guise of a human. Together, they roamed the continent of Reial, searching for the Shinrabanshou, making friends and enemies alike, but...
Soon, another problem arose.
The friends they made began to grow old, while they remained the same, and eventually they passed on. There was nothing they could do for them, but there was also nothing they could do for themselves. Death was impossible for them, something far out of their reach. It was then that they decided that not only would they find and destroy the Shinrabanshou to keep someone from creating more 'monsters' like them, but they would use it to end their lives. Watching those they cared for pass in and out of their lives while they lived on was a saddening and lonely existence.
After they made that choice, they both began even more training as ninjas, prepared to dive deeper into the ninja world to get what they wanted. Occasionally they would split up, widening their search, listening and looking for whatever they could find. Reial is a very large continent, after all.
Now is one of those times. At the moment, Kouichi has adopted the name of the Aizawa ninja clan of the Banten village, and is scouting Vohemar. He entered the Vohemar military only a couple years ago, mostly staying under the radar as he underwent training, excelling and failing only when necessary. Since he hasn't heard anything about the Shinrabanshou from the military, he's decided to join a ship in the fleet. His choice ended up being the 4423, upon hearing it was one of the best-and, well, it did a lot of looting. Surely he'd find something out.
He just hopes he'll be able to tell Shijima something the next time he gets in contact with her, wherever she is.
