A comment on the holiday...

So, a friend of mine recently journaled about his dislike of people's behaviors during the holiday season. With respect to him, I took some issue with part of his comments, which essentially indicated that Christmas would be great, except for the Christians, who had usurped the season from the older pagan traditions

"You can demonize Christianity if you want, or label it as "sinister", but I've known just as many obnoxious Pagans, Jews, Atheists, and Scientologists as I have Christians. Frankly, when anyone gets smug about their religion, or lack of it, it can be rather off-putting."

I've always found it fascinating that most pagans have more in common with Christianity than any other religion, because modern paganism is just a bunch of hippies who felt slighted by Christianity

Christmas ponderings

If asked what my religious preference is I will respond pagan. I am not of the "My religion is the true religion" kind of believer. I consider myself pagan simply because there is no single religion that answers all my questions, yet elements of several religions make sense to me.

That being said, this is a season where your fellow man is put first...a spirit of giving permeates everything. Now if people could just act the way they do at this time of year ALL YEAR long, things would be far more peaceful in my humble opinion.

No matter what you call it, I hope you enjoy it!!
