Surely you must have grown out of your antisocial roots during your stay in Africa, where the local culture couldn't comprehend "alone time".

Anyway, true that to the white noise of people. I take a comfort in being around people, if only to ignore them. Hence why I prefer to write at Starbucks: the white noise is also inspiring.

There is something so inherently soothing about being alone around people. I went to a coffee shop to hang out this weekend and felt myself relaxing more easily than I had in weeks. I think it's because the external distractions counterbalance the internal distractions (ie analyzing EVERYTHING), allowing me just to read for once. Plus, if you're alone at home, you're always thinking of other things you need to do.
