You're right. It would devastate this city if NASA was cancelled. Not only that, but America. What are we gonna be then, a country of retail managers and lawyers? Kick out the scientists, and this country will go down the shit hole fast.

I like Clinton. I've wanted her to win from the start.
She's even my friend on MySpace! lolz

I'm so annoyed at seeing so many Obama ads. I think it's ironic that he has to win Ohio and Texas though and I live in Ohio and you guys live in Texas. I'm just annoyed because I'm pretty sure I'm recorded as a Republican and I dont know how to change it so I can vote at the primary...cuz I dont want to vote for a republican candidate lol.

Dude, Hawlie. I don't know about up there, but down here his campaign is like, being paid for by the newspapers. Last time I checked, newspapers were supposed to be unbiased. I was like, wtf!?!? O.o

I hate Obama. He's so lame. Somebody on the news said something funny the other day about how he's getting chided because most of the Obama campaign is just about how cool the Obama campaign is. lol

I think when you go there, they ask each time "Republican or Democrat" I think it's stupid that you have to decair it every time you vote, but whatever. I'm sure they allow for changing your mind.

(This is only the second thime I've voted! OMG nervous!) : )

After losing my military educational design job as a direct result of the current president's idiocy, I can relate. I think it is unfortunate that this is an aspect of Obama's campaign because in many other ways he seems as though he'd be a positive candidate for our country (educational improvements elsewhere, for instance).

I think you overestimate the effect NASA had on making Houston the fourth largest city in the US. It is one of the largest ports in the world, and this is due to two things: 1. Oil (clearly) 2. The 1900 Hurricane that pretty much wiped the Port of Galveston off the map (and also killed more people than any other US natural disaster).

The port adds $100billion+ to the economy. NASA's budget is ~$16billion, only some of which goes to JSC.

The placement of JSC in Houston has helped build Houston into one of the largest cities in the world. That is an undeniable fact. Though it may not have been such great leaps and bounds as Arab Oil Emmerates or even the shipbuilding industry, Houston doesn't seem to have the nickname "Oil City" or "Port City." I wonder why that is ( ... )

GreedyAlgorithm and I frequently discuss how we wish people understood opportunity cost at all. If we had spent 1 year's worth of Iraq war budget on basic science I would have a flying car by now.

You mean you guys haven't gotten those yet in Seattle? I already have myself a fuel-efficient hover-horse.

I have a flying car. Eric still has his silly regular car, and is in such denial over my awesome flying car, he pretends I don't have a car at all. Weird.

Oh that Eric... I bet he's in disbelief that I got my pic taken with Moorcock too.
