separatist ideologies & violence

Black Flag's lyrics came to mind, 'Jealous cowards try to control! Rise above! We're gonna rise above!' ...Except that WE are all in this together!

Just to clarify my position... I see the concept of “race” as a socially constructed ideology... albeit a powerful & persistent one... a few years ago, I made a few academic references to dispelling the illusions of the “race” concept
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/187648.html

-

Bucky Fuller was an early promoter of the reality that there is only “one race, the human race” ...and he truly meant to include each & every one of us on the planet, or “Spaceship Earth” as he called it...

As usual, TV Tropes has some amusing & informative things to say (particularly note the entries in the “Real Life” section)...
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InTheFutureHumansWillBeOneRace

...although that trope clearly needs to be updated with reference to Cloud Atlas!
http://mixedraceamerica.blogspot.com/2012/11/cloud-atlas-review-part-3-mixed-race.html

-

In any case, I'm still kinda fond of Bucky's ideas, even if he often obfuscates them with his parlance...

As a consequence of the slavish "categoryitis" the scientifically illogical, and as we shall see, often meaningless questions "Where do you live?" "What are you?" "What religion?" "What race?" "What nationality?" are all thought of today as logical questions. By the twenty-first century it either will have become evident to humanity that these questions are absurd and anti-evolutionary or men will no longer be living on Earth.
- Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth (1963)

The youth of humanity all around our planet are intuitively revolting from all sovereignties and political ideologies. The youth of Earth are moving intuitively toward an utterly classless, raceless, omnicooperative, omniworld humanity. Children freed of the ignorantly founded educational traditions and exposed only to their spontaneously summoned, computer-stored and -distributed outflow of reliable-opinion-purged, experimentally verified data, shall indeed lead society to its happy egress from all misinformedly conceived, fearfully and legally imposed, and physically enforced customs of yesterday. They can lead all humanity into omnisuccessful survival as well as entrance into an utterly new era of human experience in an as-yet and ever-will-be fundamentally mysterious Universe.
- Synergetics: Explorations in the Geometry of Thinking (1975)

Margaret Mead gets cross with me when I talk like this because she says people are doing some very important things because they're worried and excited and I'm going to make them relax and stop doing those things. But we're dealing with something much bigger than we're accustomed to understanding, we're on a very large course indeed. You speak of racism, for example, and I tell you that there's no such thing as race. The point is that racism is the product of tribalism and ignorance and both are falling victim to communications and world-around literacy.
- As quoted in “The View From The Year 2000” by Barry Farrell in LIFE Magazine (26 February 1971)

-

Although I don't think Bucky had a clear vision of what a struggle the computer-assisted communication revolution would be (Iranian Green Revolution, the Arab Spring, the Occupy movement, et alia)... we are still working on designing better filters for the current information overload... I still stand by my words:
“tyranny may be able to slow our progress, but the will of the people cannot be stopped “

I noticed this acerbic blog, today...
http://blackgirldangerous.org/new-blog/2013/4/22/hey-white-liberals
and my initial reaction was to wonder, “How does this kind of desensitization help?”

But then I read AfuckingP's “poem”
http://bit.ly/blog042113
about which she even posted another less than apologetic blog
http://amandapalmer.net/blog/20130423/
“Art” and empathy aside... this sort of drivel reminds me that some people really do need a cosmic clue-by-four smack to the face, sometimes...
Just to be clear, I mean that in the sense of the whack of a Zen keisaku stick to wake you up from your daydreaming... or even the Bwiti tradition of using Iboga to break open the head, so that you can enter the underworld & commune with the ancestors.

But for the past week, I have not been able to get that UN landmine removal commercial out of my head...

Which I posted at the end of 2009, asking people what it will take for them to wake up and see what caused the economic crisis
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/193429.html
Although the recent events were at a marathon, rather than at a soccer match or during a banking scam on housing, but I think the parallel is clearly there: it seems that people in America are starting to face some of the harsh realities that people in the old world have been living with for quite some time

Just in case you still don't know what human rights abuses are like in Chechnya, for instance...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chechnya#Human_rights
And that barely scratches the surface of what crimes were going on there during the full-scale wars
http://www.crimesofwar.org/a-z-guide/chechnya/

But we have entered an age where many of the lines are not as easy to distinguish without some research
http://www.hrea.org/index.php?doc_id=255
Many combatants hide cowardly, pretending to be civilians... directing attacks against civilians, rather than facing enemy combatants directly on the field of war... and some would point out that the US is employing similar strategies by using drones...

So, concerning senseless/insane acts of violence perpetrated upon civilians, often justified/rationalized with righteous/fanatic fervor...

I realize that humans are the dominant predators on the planet, but I am also aware of ways that we can live in peace with one another... albeit in somewhat smaller groups, usually ;-)
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/40094.html

During SXSW, I went to see a screening of a film called, "For the Next 7 Generations"
http://www.forthenext7generations.com/grandmothers.php
about the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers
http://www.grandmotherscouncil.org/about-us

There was a discussion afterwards to particularly address the concept of *sovereignty*
SXSW kept me working 24-7, so i rarely have much time to collect & process my thoughts into anything resembling coherence, so I was only able to touch upon it briefly in this long & rambling post...
"AR, art & activism brain dump"
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/2013/03/10/

"...

it certainly seems like it's a rigged game... the only remaining peaceful groups of human culture or nations can only hope that they can find safety from the violent monsters in the world through maintaining agreements with ostensibly benevolent inter-national military forces, which ensures military protection against aggressive powers? just make sure you pay your taxes, or protection money, or fealty... pay up to the company store!

although from the perspective of sovereignty, each of us must take our own noble stand for justice, individually... and work together in grand juries against a corrupt system
http://www.jurisimprudence.com/

hasn't anyone read the coming insurrection, around here?
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/195996.html

meanwhile, there are still rogue micronation paramilitary forces, mercenaries & pirates, out there...

http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/175594.html

..."

So, anyway... If you will forgive the reference, here's what I took to be the smoking gun... at one crucial point in the documentary, the Grandmothers went to speak with the Dalai Lama (they wanted to know how he got an audience with the pope, to which i believe he said, "i think you must be persistent!"). I noticed that the cameras kept focusing on H.H.XIV's bodyguards, who were armed with submachine guns. Now, we can argue about how the CIA is funding his protection and that he doesn't have a choice in the matter, or whatever. But the fact remains that he is a pawn in an international socio-economic chess game... or perhaps he's more like a Bishop, but whatever ;-p Anyway, the juxtaposition threw me into channelling some information that proved to be rather contentious to a few local dignitaries in the gathering, which was sponsored by Evolver & hosted by Vuka Coop.

I specifically asked how are we supposed to rise above the violent domination of others without employing violence ourselves... when it looks to me that in general, any non-violent cultures left on the planet are protected by larger military forces...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_without_armed_forces
Take the Orang Asli, for instance
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/819.html
Those few countries that find some exception to the rule are still in various stages of the process of "non-militarization"
http://www.demilitarisation.org/Countrieswithoutarmy.htm
The Global Peace Index is also interesting, if incomplete in its analysis of the full extent of violence that is sanctioned within cultures towards women & children, for instance.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index
And although we apparently still have a long way to go, until we can achieve this sort of implementation of resources, the math is extremely compelling...
WHAT THE WORLD WANTS
AND HOW TO PAY FOR IT USING MILITARY EXPENDITURES
https://ratical.org/co-globalize/WtWW/

I do love the people who hosted the documentary screening. I was just a little disappointed when the response I got was to look at the messages from "Bashar ... a multi-dimensional extra-terrestrial being who speaks through channel Darryl Anka from what we perceive as the future."
http://bashar.org/aboutmessagebashar.html

Now, I do my best to understand people's meanings behind the words they are using... I really do want to understand what message people intend to communicate, even if they are using questionably subjective terminology, relating to spirituality &/or extraterrestrials
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/169847.html
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/228737.html
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/38146.html

But all I could get out of Bashar's message in this context was basically something like the so-called "law of attraction"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_attraction
...which i also enjoy contemplating, in a certain context
http://aethyrflux.livejournal.com/87071.html
as long as we realize & take into account that it works for everyone in the world

And I couldn't help but think of Gandhi's idealistic words about how active suicide would have been a more successful strategy for the German Jewish people during The Holocaust
http://mystical-politics.blogspot.com/2008/01/mahatma-gandhi-and-jews.html
And Martin Buber's response, reminding Gandhi that "when the subject was the rights of Indians, as opposed to those of the Jews, Gandhi himself had remarked (in 1922) that he had 'repeatedly said that I would have India become free even by violence rather than that she should remain in bondage.'"

i realize that there are people who are disatisfied with the current federal government in America (often for good reasons, even); but i will severely question any attempt to justify the use of violence in any case... i recognize that violence is always an option for the predator hominids that dominate this planet, but i will always champion the alternative solutions, whenever possible.

The best I can take away from all of this is that we can at least work towards...
"embodying the change we wish to see in the world!"

In that regard, I will continue to promote:

"We may be decent people, acting compassionately in our daily lives, but when we live in unjust hierarchical systems, being decent day to day isn't enough. No matter what the specific topic of any Last Sunday, we tried to keep this in the foreground: We live in an imperial society structured by a predatory corporate capitalism, with identities shaped by white supremacy and patriarchy, in a technological fundamentalist society dominated by the faith that we can invent our way out of an ecological crisis."
