although there are really quite a few people out there who just don't like to do math... the understanding and implementation of game theory does require a certain degree of mathematical familiarity (even if only on an intuitive level), and some people just don't like to do any sort of number-crunching... I agree with the theory being a good model for the reasoning behind peoples behavior, however I do not think it's a good model for future society to be based on ( ... )

Check out what this article has to say about reciprocal altruism. As cheaters will always do better in a reciprocal altruism game, the altruists have to adopt a defense against them. In religious communities, where reciprocal altruism is the norm ( ... )

Oh I should add that there is one answer offered, which is as follows:

"Provided that the probability of future interaction between two individuals is sufficiently great, co-operation based on reciprocity can indeed get started in an asocial world, can flourish in a variegated environment and can defend itself once fully established."

This begs the question though - how do you increase the probability of individuals interacting?

that's easy, it's happening already, communications, commerce, transportation, and limited living area.

same stuff that causes conflict.
