i have found that serious intimacy often breaks down severely with more than six or seven people in a group, unless there is some seriously heroic level of commitment to structured cooperation. i have always conceived of this immediate level of social grouping as a "hearth," in the context of a home, as a vital creative center, and with respect to ( Read more... )

` ` Blame is so powerful and great that it is almost a way unto itself. Blame is the slayer of guilt. The enemy of introspection. The destroyer of doubt. And the ultimate weapon of the oppressed Others everywhere. ' '

There is a line in there....about how if someone points the finger of blame they will usually get away with things........fuck that. I say take responsibility for your own actions. Don't make excuses or blame others. It continues to amaze me that so many people including you and I'm sure myself on occasion blame others for things we are responsible for as individuals or groups of people....I say.......turn that finger around man.

hmmmmm... satirical, cynical, and largely accurate.

i particularly liked the last ironic point of the 12th step's T.R.Y. Monkey three step plan:
"And finally, DON'T LET ANYBOD_Y_ simplify it for you. The world cannot be made simple. Anyone who tries to paint a picture of the world in basic comic book colors is most likely trying to use you as a pawn."

reminds me of Cary Elwes classic line as "Westley" in _The Princess Bride,_ "Life is pain, Highness. Anybody who says differently is selling something."

which somewhere along the line, i combined with some sort of hermetic philosophy:

` ` There is no separation between the material and the spiritual.
Anybody who says differently is selling something. ' '
