metaphysical spaghetti gangster films, black dahlia, et alia...

whoa, i am behind the times, or what?!!!

i just noticed that Alejandro Jodorowsky is working on a new film, called: Tryptych, due out in 2006!

last year, Fangoria did an interview with Jodorowsky about this project, in which he characterizes Tryptych as a 'historical' gangster film for more mature audiences, as opposed to the as of yet not officially announced, ",Kingshot," which he refers to as a 'pure Jodorowsky' art film for the young people...

and apparently, he's also acting in a "present day retelling" of the Black Dahlia murder.

--

does this mean that we will soon see the release of Los Hijos del Topo, set in a post-apocalyptic Eden, and starring Marilyn Manson as Cain... which has been slated as "in production" since March 19, 2003 (no thanks to Allen Klein)?

this press release from 1997 is the only official image i have seen, so far.

if you enjoy Jodorowsky's films, and you haven't seen Jodorowsky's comics, they are every bit as bizarre and profound as his movies. some time ago having enjoyed the copies of Metabarons & The Incal that HumanoidsPublishing distributes in English (originally published in French, of course), i also recently procured the first volume of Son of The Gun... which, through an alliance with DC/Vertigo, is now being printed in softcover (still pricey, though not as expensive as Humanoids' harcovers, anyway...)

ADDENDUM 032007 here's an excellent essay length profile & retrospective of Jodorowsky's film career

and here's an awesome article from Res Magazine which explores Jodorowsky's mythos in the graphic novel medium:
