eek. mp3s mp3s mp3s yucky. if your headphones are as sensitive as they claim to be you should be able to hear a difference in quality between even a 320kbps mp3 and the source wav...i think you made the right choice with the sonys though. despite the fact they manufacture a ton of poo, the stuff they put time and research and money into are among the finest products available. if you have a DVD player (which i know you do), try out a super audio CD. (after you mentioned that it all made sense about the extended frequency response). super audio uses a serial bit stream with a sample rate of 2.8 GHz. that's the frequency of microwave radiation. holy shit batman.
