War Protesters

I was watching the news the other day and saw that some protester are going to cemeteries and shouting at the families of those killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Well I feel that everybody has the right to their own opinion. But there is a time and place and a military funeral is not that place. While I would never protest at a military funeral (and the only protesters that I have heard about are the God-is-punishing-the-US-by-letting-soldiers-die-in-Iraq-because-the-US-is-gay-friendly group from Kansas, I have protested this war (and will continue to do so), I don't believe that any fighting in Iraq is protecting my right to protest, anymore than the fighting in Viet Nam protected my rights. Believe it or not, many of my fellow protesters are former military or military dependant (20+ years). I am more concerned over the current administration's infringements on my rights than any threat that Iraq had/has on me.

Yes, Saddam was a bad man, so are plenty of other people in this world, are we supposed to invade every country that does not agree with our policies or has the cajones to stand up to W? Note that I did and do support any military action in Afganistan since they were directly involved in 9/11.

I may not agree with the war, but protesting at a military funeral is just plain wrong.

I have stong feelings on this one. Protesting a military funeral is wrong to the point it should be illegal. The protesters have no idea what the family is going through, nor do they care. It should be open season on the protesters.
My brother is a vet, (Iraq/Bosnia) and if he could go back he would.
God Bless the soldiers!

My immediate response is that this sort of behaviour is even worse than the ostrasicing of vets as they returned from Vietnam. I fully support the right to assemble and express free speech, but harrassing grieving families is not the way to change government policy.

My opinion always has been this: I don't care if you are for the war or against the war. Whether the soldiers go there willing or not, I just pray for a safe return of all of them. They are doing their job. I've lost 2 friends there and just like you, I prayed for a safe journey there and a safe return. I don't know where I stand, but I just want them all to be safe and I feel for EVERY family who loses someone. I know how it feels!
