Paring: Yonghwa/Seohyun

Rating: G

Genre: Romance

Summary: It comes off, when Yonghwa is off his guard and it’s a sweet surprise none the less.

He watched her playfully swat Jinwoon’s arm and laugh at something he said. He had always felt uneasy about how close they were, insecure even. They are only friends, just friends, nothing more, nothing less he told himself again an again. He shut his eyes and tried to steady his racing heart only to have it feel like it was being forced out of his throat when he opened his eyes to find Jinwoon hugging her.

What did Jinwoon have that he didn’t? Except, of course, the height, and that disgustingly cute eye smile and his polite, friendly personality, and his nice rapping skills and - okay so Jinwoon had quite a few plus points, but Yonghwa was completely sure he would win over Jinwoon in an air guitar competition, Yonghwa was the best at it. Playing the guitar that is. But she would still walk away Jinwoon, you pathetic moron the insecure Yonghwa in him told him and the positive Yonghwa who pumped his ego every now and then was no where to be seen or heard. He frowned to himself and shuffled his feet nervously, maybe this whole idea was stupid; of course it was stupid, she wouldn’t be surprised to see him randomly at her shooting with some baked sweet potatoes, no she would be awkward and she would try and come up with ideas to send him away. He sighed and turned on his heels to make way to the exit and drown his misery in baked potatoes when he heard a distant; “Yong Oppa~”

He spun around and spotted her walking towards him, her hair flowing behind her, her signature smile playing on her lips, her twinkling like the stars on a cloudless night sky, only it was noon but he didn’t seem to care and like the idiot he was, he let his heart fall again.

“Hi…” she smiled, when she reached him. He tried to smile back, but his brain never functioned right around her, because it was too busy trying to digest the fact that someone so pretty and precious was standing so close to it’s owner.

“Hi…” He mumbled back, glancing away from her face, because it is rude to stare and hard to resist the urge to grab her and kiss her.

“This is a surprise oppa…” she grinned. “What are you doing here?”

“I. Uh…nothing…I mean, I was just - here. So I thought I could meet up with you.”

“Oh, how nice of you…” she smiled and nodded her head, he refrained from sighing out loudly and stealing her from the world.

“I got you - these.” He said, handing over the bag of sweet potatoes he had bought for her

“Thank you oppa…” she gushed, “Jinwoon also got me some…” she said, pointing her thumb over her shoulder at Jinwoon who was busy conversing with her other members. “Maybe the three of us should eat it together, it sounds like a good idea.”

“Uh…no. It’s okay, I have to go now…you can enjoy the snack with Jinwoon.” He replied, shifting his weight from one foot to the other; “I am going to go now…” he spared her a smile and walked towards the exit, he had originally planned to eat the potatoes with her, just the two of them together, in a happy place with no Jinwoon. He walked out of the studio plotting ways of killing Jinwoon and making it seem like an accident, when he was midways of stuffing Jinwoon’s face with socks and pushing him down the stairs, Yonghwa let soft, warm fingers lacing around his. He stopped and stared at her standing right there, next to him.

“Wha- Aren’t you…where’s Jinwoon?”

She blushed, her cheeks turning a shade of light red and she hung her head low; and for that moment, he wanted time to stop. Everything was perfect, the feel of her fingers around his, her sot, shy smile, her being right next to him, no Jinwoon, perfect.

“Hyun…”

“Oppa…Jinwoon does not need me to function properly.”

It took him a moment to realize what she meant and when he did, he smiled embarrassed at how easy he was for her.

“I. I…” he stuttered, but she just laughed.

“Don’t bother oppa. Let’s have some sweet potatoes.”

He grumbled something vaguely coherent and frowned; “Why aren’t you eating these Jinwoon?” he asked, pointing to the potatoes.

“Jinwoon doesn’t appreciate sweet potatoes, I don’t think he likes them as much. And he had a schedule he had to attend to, so he was in a bit of a rush. I couldn’t even properly say goodbye…” she pouted and continued listing out reasons as to why she couldn’t have share the potatoes with Jinwoon and Yonghwa wondered he put up with all this, why she made him feel like this, all giddy and like a young teenage boy, why his heart back flipped each time she smiled. It wasn’t -isn’t- fair, who she could be indifferent to everything he did and he was affected by every little action of hers. Not fair.

“…and beside…” she paused and looked at Yonghwa in the eye; “why would I want to share sweet potatoes with anyone else, when I can have them with my husband?”

And just then; Yonghwa knew why.

“You’re totally worth it, Hyun.” He said, holding her by her wrist and slapping on one of the sappiest smile he could muster on his face.

She spared him a look of confusion and dug into the bag for her favorite snack.
