I confess, I've never seen your name before, but please please please do more of this work. I am the first person in line to offer up WHAT EVER FIC YOU WANT for more of this.

It's kind of vain, maybe, but I get really ecstatic when people point out the little details they noticed- because all those details are very intentional so it's ultra rewarding to see the thought I put in it stands out. I don't like drawing figures that I find 'stagnant'- so I try to add that little more character into whatever they're doing (like the entwined hands).
I fell out of fandom in general in my late teens- particularly on LJ- and became solely lurker material for a number of years. And then re-entered through the Star Trek 2009 movie and K/S fandom, which lit a flame under my ass and start drawing again (and hopefully get better at it). Since I feel like my overall technical skill has improved I've started dipping my toes into other fandoms that I've been technically apart of but silent in thus far (Like The Faculty and Supernatural) - so yeah. Most of anything you'd find my name on is probably Kirk/Spock ( ... )

I'm no artist, but I'm definitely a writer, and I understand the importance of the little details. Sometimes they just pull the whole piece together.
I confess I've only ever seen the new Star Trek film. I intend to watch the series, but just haven't gotten there yet. I am mad about The Faculty and Supernatural, though. (Love me some Sam/Dean!!)
I am certainly looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.
How long does it take to draw something like this?

The response has been incredibly rewarding and motivating.
I grew up familiar with Star Trek TOS and Next Gen, but I swear Kirk/Spock only bashed me over the head with the new movie- and then it was just duh, you know? And now going back and watching the series- the relationship is so in your face it's like whoa. So I definitely recommend you taking a gander at the original series whenever you get the chance. If you liked the new movie then the series can only endear these characters to you more. (I know the nu!characterizations bother some TOS purists, so it might be best that you become acquainted with it backwards anyways.)
Supernatural is my *show*. Wincest wasn't ever my thing (I don't have anything against it, mind you- Dean/Cas just stole my heart) so I didn't actually jump into fandom until really late (sometime after S5). I've ( ... )

One can hope that my muse can stick to one subject for some measure of time, but she has yet to exert that sort of focus, so we'll see.

While watching the movie, it's obvious that the garage Zeke uses is just storage space for a bunch of his parents crap. I noticed things like picture frames and the like in the background of the scene- so I thought a couple of antique home items like the lamp and frame would work well to add to the overall macabre scifi affect.
It was tricky making the space a mess but trying not to make the *picture* a mess and keep the eye attracted to certain elements. I picked out the few things from the actual set that I kept noticing (like the box fan... for some reason? And the guitar *snicker* oh Zeke, you 90's child, you) and just kind of improvised the rest to suit my purposes.

I had fun playing with grungy textures and muted colors to bring out the mood. It was difficult trying to translate the atmosphere from the movie set into illustrated form. I tried to make it a clusterfuck of a space (like it really is) without making it a clusterfuck for the eyeballs. I think I failed, mostly, but live and learn.
I really love that people are noticing the little loving details. I like putting "goodies" into my art, to add a little more character specific to the fandom. So it's really flattering when I see that other people pick up on it. And the bare feet / socked feet I thought would be an interesting dichotomy, so yay! It stood out to someone!

I honestly don't know if my muse will strike again for The Faculty. I *hope* it will, but she's a rather fickle bitch. And I do have other commitments I put on the back burner because this idea was barking at me to be put down.
I'm so glad I did it, though. The following in this fandom is small, but it's so dedicated and full of awesome. I just really wanted to splash around in the Casey/Zeke pool, too.
(And, okay, here's where I go all fangirl on you, but just so you know- I totally had Colonized Co-dependence in mind when I was drawing this. For realz. I remember running across it on AFF years ago- and though I'd read Faculty fics before then, it's the first story that hooked me and made me want to ravenously seek out more. So, yeah. There are many talented authors in this fandom, and many of whom I love works by, but if you look at my bookmarks you'll pretty much find that your fic is like 88.9999 percent of my Faculty fandom.)
