My 10in30 icons post got into the top 25 on LJ for a little while last night.I'd seen it happen before with other actually popular posts, but I have all of five comments so I'm like ??? wut.

but also gameofcards is killing me bc I want to participate in EVERY SINGLE CHALLEGE and...curse me it's hard. how do you do it when you're a goddamn perfectionist???

Take your time with gameofcards! Most of the challenges are pretty easy and don't take too much time. Just start early and pace yourself.

I know but I feel like I'm in a pokemon episode. I GOTTA DO THEM AAAALLLLLL.

but they ARE easy. I just gotta balance it all out and realize (most of the time) it's not like you get extra points for being first.

Exactly. It's really good to get them done early so you don't have to do them last minute, but don't stress yourself about getting them done immediately. Aside from the scavenger hunt this phase, there are very rarely challenges where you get points for being the first person done.

That has happened to me with several of my posts, one (I think from the7days) even got the top spot for a while lol

The first time it happened I was so thrilled, but I had the same thought process :/
It heavily depends on the community's social rating though. Some posts on ohnotheydidnt get into the top 25 with just three comments.

yeah I'm 90% sure they count clicks more than comments. which makes me happy because it means at least people saw my icons even if they didn't leave a comment.

Yeah, that top 25 ranking really is an excellent indicator of just how much smaller LJ has gotten. Sometimes it catches my eye and there are like challenge posts or icon posts and... that used to be different, lol.

yeah, I see comments all the time in bigger comms or on theme or sign-up posts for the big icon challenges about how that post made it into the top 25.

I could go so deep about how it's one of the many changes that LJ implimented to try and boost their userbase, but it's also one of those same many changes that drove a ton of us away too.
