so booooo i missed the anthrax reunion concert to go to a math contest. i know i'm a geek -.-' (#1 for actually going to math contests, #2 for being a big anthrax fan). but yay for getting 9th place! w00t w00t, won a sweatshirt... and books... math books

what's black metal?

Black metal is a branch of heavy metal whose characteristics include:

-Lyrics, often taking the form of Satanic themes which blaspheme Christianity, and other occult themes, like paganism;
-Heavy guitar distortion; fast, aggressive drums, often including blast beats (alternating the bass drum and snare drum really fast);
-Fast, repetitive guitar playing and riffing;
-High-pitched screeching vocals (the singer sounds like he has saliva stuck in the back of his throat and the lyrics are often unintelligible)

the "progressive" part means once in a while including complex compositional structures, odd time signatures, or slow melodies (melodies are nonexistent in black metal btw) that interrupt the violent black metal portions.

not many people like black metal btw, it has kind of a cult following

and oh yeah, if you've heard of "corpsepaint," that's a black metal thing. it's when people put black and white paint completely covering their faces. i believe alice cooper started the trend and some glam bands like KISS did it, but nowadays black metal bands are really the people that use corpsepaint the most.
