I have had a mad week. I've finished uni now but I had my last essay in for History of English on Friday. I was nearly finished it, 150 words away, so I thought 'Better save this now' and then I lost 1000 words of it! So I was pretty hysterical. It was 12:30am and it was due in at 3pm! But then I just decided to go to bed and finish it in the ( Read more... )

Ah, losing things on the computer is the worst! Out of interest, what's it like having to read books in such a short space of time for uni? I think I should start practicing now, haha.

HARD! haha. I've got used to it now, but in my first year it was extremely hard. Are you thinking of doing English at uni? It is very intense compared to A Levels where we did a book a term! We read a book a week!

It's been quite easy this semester because it's just been plays, but before Christmas I was doing American and Victorian lit and I had to read 600 page novels in a week, which I managed! You have to be very focused and have no time for reading for pleasure!

Haha, thanks for answer! Yup, I'd really like to do English Literature at uni I think. I've got a few years to practice though. :)

i think the wind up bird chronicle and hard boiled wonderland & the end of the world are my least favourite murakami novels. kafka on the shore is brilliant though! have you read his latest, after dark? that's also really good. i am such a murakami freak, haha.
and swedish bands ♥

This is the first book of his I've read, I've looked at extracts in uni and thought they were good and they are.

I can't wait! Mine finish a week on Tuesday, I've only got 2. So much work to do before then...

i love murakami, reckon my favourite is dance dance dance though. it's nice to have a sequel for a wild sheep chase, bit of closure. that was such an empty book.

i'm starting an english lit degree in september, very excited.

salman rushdie's satanic verses has been in our bathroom for months and i pick it up occasionally. he seems difficult.

where are you going to be studying at? rushdie is quite difficult i suppose, it's very non-linear and flits back and to but that adds to it...somehow. sometimes i think murakami is difficult too though. not read dance dance dance! shall add it to my huge 'to read' list hehe
