I liked Clooney's acceptance speech. I think the 'now I'm not gonna win best director' line shows that he doesn't take himself or Hollywood too seriously. (not like Spielberg!) As for the political stuff, he's right. In a year of such political films no one can deny that Hollywood, or at least more of Hollywood than ever before, is using it for social and political advancement.
I've liked Clooney ever since he teamed up with Soderbergh and became an actor.
The cowboy montage was lame, the Hanks bit was lame, but the campaign ads were hilarious. And the president of the Academy always speaks, giving all the home viewers an opportunity to go to the bathroom, get another beer, etc.
Overall, I liked it. Because I beat Adam in our Oscar pool this year.
