I have a question.

I'm sure most of you have had your boyfriends deploy or they're currently deployed. Did they ever detach themselves from you just a little bit being over there? Mine is doing it to me and my best friends husband does that to her so I was just wondering if it's normal or what. Thank you.

Thank you sooo much. I totally completely understand where you're coming from. I talked to him about it and he told me he's just scared that he might not come home and he doesn't want me to get hurt if that's what happens, that and he has a tendency to shut people out when they get too close. My biggest problem about it was that I don't get phone calls very often anymore but he keeps posting surveys on his myspace with questions like who he talked to on the phone last and almost always he says his ex. He has assured me I have nothing to worry about and that he loves me and wants to be with me when he comes home. He also said that if I feel like he's shutting me out again that I should smack him and make him snap out of it lol. But thank you so much for everything I definately appreciate it :)

Its the same for me as well. My bf tells me that the reasoning behind that (for him anyway) is so that he can perform better and not lose his head by detaching himself emotionally. Not that they do it on purpose, its just the nature of the job. I hope this helps.

this really helps me because my bf's communications has lessened and our convos are pretty basic and almost bland. but this would explain a lot if that's what's going on with my soldier
