“You overlooked one thing,” Kate whispered in his ear, balanced on her tip toes with her hand on his chest, smiling like they were in love, but there was something in her voice.
Neal smiled wide and happy, bending like he was whispering something just sweet and meaningless but a secret only for her ears nonetheless. Maybe ‘I love you’ or something about her being pretty or a silly promise. “What do you mean? I thought of everything."
“Even that?”
Neal glanced up. “That’s a very odd place for a camera.”
“My boyfriend is completely incompetent.”
Neal pulled a face.

My brain insists Neal heard 'incompetent' as 'impotent' and since their heist was a bust anyway, he dragged her to the bathroom and showed her just how fast he could get it up and what all he could do with it. Because I honestly can't think of a WC fic where anyone mishears anything.
