*throws hands in the air*

I give up. I was clearly not meant to own a computer.

Nooo! And I was just starting to enjoy having you back! Shame I don't live more close-by, otherwise I'd just drop in and fix the damn thing for you.

You're sweet for saying so <3

I have sufficently harrassed my stepdad into agreeing to try to fix it this afternoon.

*Crosses figners* Wish me luck!

So, what's it do (or not do)? Maybe I can offer remote tech support...

Weeell. I, in my infinite wisdom and vast knowledge of all things technology, decided to upgrade from windows vista to windows 7.

It's now stuck restarting. Continuously.

Option one on booting up: Finish installing windows 7! :) ---> 'sorry, you didn't shut your computer down properly last time, please click to restart!
Rollback to vista ---> okay, please don't shut your computer down ---> *restarts self*

It's just O_o I had to take the battery out because there was no way to even just get it to shut down. It spent hours just restarting over and over, no matter how I changed the start up settings. (And no matter how long I left it alone to do it's own thing.)

So... yeah. I'm told find the recovery CD and start from scratch. Which is fine, I've backed up my computer in it's entirety. But I mean O_o there's not much else I can do at this point, am I right?

Thank you! :D That means a lot.

My one-man tech support of medicority has offered (after much nagging) to take another look at it. In the mean time, this computer from... 1999!? is doing its best. No vids again, but a full keyboard. Yay, no fandom withdrawal. <3

Hear, hear!

>_<

We are attempting a ressurection on it, but you know what they say about raising the dead.

They don't come back the same.

Unless you back them up on an external hard drive. *Squishes external hard drive and cooes obnoxiously at it* Who was a good purchase? You were, yes, you were!

Uh, see above, where tj_teejay volunteers to help and then figures out I've f'ed it up beyond salvaging.

I swear, I bring these things on myself.

Ack! I hope that the computer has been resurrected since this post? Were tj_teejay and her v. appropriate icons helpful?

*crosses fingers for you*

Nay. I'm loading the mobile LJ site on my aunt's v. old computer. So yay, full keyboard! Silver lining.

Both tj_teejay and photoash took a swing at it and seperately came to the conlcusion that it is not mostly dead, it's ALL dead. Not even slightly alive. Time to start rooting for loose change.

However, tj_teejay's icons of extreme fittingness have indded been a comfort!

Anyway, the stepdad has it. Maybe he will take a break from making himself necklaces and take a crack at it. This is a big maybe.

I believe I've not used this icon before in this thread. And I'm shocked how many "holy f-ing shit, this is bad" icons I have and how few "squee, this is totally awesome" icons I have. Yep, one more indication that I'm a total pessimist at heart. *hangs head*

Btw, the "Oh no!" stickman is a 100% genuine TeeJay product. I drew it on a printed out agenda during one of our phone conferences at work and then scanned it to make it into an icon. Am I creative, or what?

Hope the stepdad fixed your computer. I'd totally offer to look at it, but there's a couple thousand miles between you and me...
