Well. Today's issue of the Free Spirit will be lining the cats' litter box when I get home this evening, that's certain. (Who on earth set a copy on my desk, anyway?)

Honestly, who are their political sources ("Oliver?"), and since when have I been pushing things to the forefront of the political agenda? And why shouldn't we use Death Eater's ( Read more... )

I'm a high-profile wife? How lovely. Just like the Free Spirit News not to mention that I'm also Muggleborn. I should hope that would give Barty some reason to "place himself so much against the Pureblood Supremacists"

Well, I do think we ought to be opposed to that supremacy regardless of our own bloodlines, but yes, I suppose that would have been something.

Will you be attending tomorrow night's gala? I do hope to see you and your husband there.

One of the very few things that newspaper is fit for.

I have to say that I agree, Arabella.. we should fight it anyway we can. They certainly aren't afraid to throw Unforgivables at anyone they like.

Not that it gives us the right to swoop to their level and use that kind of power willy-nilly but I do wonder sometimes if a life of one of our people could have been saved by an Unforgivable at that crucial moment.

Oh, I do agree that moderation should be important, but there are certainly times when the Unforgivables are called for.

And you're ... Mrs. Longbottom? Your husband's an Auror, correct? My best wishes to you both, dear.

Pardon Me, Ladies... obliviator June 19 2003, 13:31:16 UTC
You should not allow the papers to temper your day. The Free Spirit is a form of entertainment, not information. I'm quite sure that the Ministry will have the good sense to allow our agents discretionary powers so that this war might finally experience an increase in the rate of carnage amongst the wizarding public and decrease the attacks on Muggles may be brought to a conclusion.

I'm on alert seven days a week. I can only imagine what the arrogant bastards Aurors must be going through not nearly enough since I'm sent to splinter Muggle minds each day just so they might have the possibility of functioning as normal human beings.

Mrs. Figg - Arabella, if I may - I realize you lost your husband a long time ago, but I can well remember the war even though I lived as a Muggle at a time and didn't have an inkling about the bloody wizarding world quite well. You have my condolences and appreciation one less wizard in the world.

If I can be of any assistance how I would love to strip away the layers from your memory and discard ( ... )

Entertainment, Mr. Peasgood? The news should not be entertainment.

And thank you for your condolences, but I'm not in any need of assistance at the moment. What would I need an Obliviator for, anyway?

No, the news should not be entertainment, but that is precisely what the Free Spirit and the Prophet are, if one finds entertainment in shallow gossip, rumors, and lies.
