The Boys are Back In Town

May 02, 2010 23:06

A mind-numbing two years have passed since my last post. Two of the worst years I can remember, for me personally (bereavement, business worries and injury have all taken a toll) and probably for a lot of other people, since the recession started. But I called this blog misery distraction patrol for a reason. We shall divert ourselves with shiny ( Read more... )

Flu? I can't believe it! I'm so sorry about what you've been through.

I'm glad to see you back: I got so worried when you stopped posting. I can't believe it's been two years.

HELLOOO!!! I know! Back from the dead!!

I'm really sorry for leaving like that and worrying you; I was just really miserable (for RL reasons) and no use to anyone. I didn't say goodbye but I should have. It was a really dumbass thing to do and I'm sorry for it. I thought about you a lot.

BUT I'm so glad you're here and you're ok!! Are you still at Uni?

No, it's okay. I know you wouldn't have left like that if it wasn't important. I'm sorry for taking you for granted: I always assumed that you would always write back, and when you left I realised how stupid I'd been for thinking like that. So, I sort of deserved it ;) I've missed you too and I'm glad that you're safe. And with a new guy ;p Does Ian know?!

Yep, unfortunately lol. Last year starts in September! O_o Cannot wait!!!

MAJOR HUGS BACK!!!!!

You say that because you're such a lovely person, but it's not okay and I shouldn't have done it and NO WAI did you deserve it!! I've just been reading your posts (I was locked out forever because I couldn't remember my login password "durr-durrr Flu") and you've been through the wringer yourself this last couple of years. I'm really sorry that I wasn't about. I think people can forget how stressful Uni can be, I know I didn't find it easy at times. I hope you've found your feet now.

Ooo, yes. I had an fictional break-up with Ian. It was a few months after I saw 'Be Near Me'. Ian had gone back into hiding, and then I saw Sharlto... it hurt, but I couldn't pretend to two-time Ian with someone else. Serial monogamy strikes again. But Ian and I had four happy imaginary years together and more importantly, he brought me to you, and for that I am always thankful :)

Well, I appreciate you and your emails more now. The important thing is that you're okay. Thanks for your concern about uni ;) This semester was really tough and I'm not looking forward to the dissertation (who is sad enough to write about art? >:/ ) but I may as well stick it out.

:O NOOOOOOOOO! Oh Flu, I'm sorry it didn't work out with Ian! And I'm really happy he brought you to me as well ;) We'll have to thank him somehow...But, without him knowing about all the stalking O_o

You saw BNM?! Tell me EVERYTHING.

I've gotta sort my BNM stuff out, seeing as it was my last Ian occasion. What did you think of it (novel or play)?

When it's hard to psyche yourself up for a dissertation, remember this, you have inspired others: you told me just to go for it, so I did! I remembered your words of encouragement and I've started drawing chibis (I had a bit of help from a book). The results are, well, unmarvellous but I enjoyed it! So thank you for the inspiration.

Hello again! *more major hugs*

I have so much to catch up on!! I'm really happy to read about your acting success; you had just joined a group the last time I was here and now you're going to Edinburgh. Wow - congratulations!

I didn't get too see the play because my friends and family don't approve of Ian T_T But I don't think I missed out on much because I hated the novel lol. Well, "hate" is too strong a word: I did like Ian's character but he was wasted in such a bad story and awful writing...So, "hate" is the appropriate word after all lol

Aw, Flu you're a sweetie pie! ;) I feel so happy to have inspired you! Usually I just get on people's nerves ;p I want to see what you've done when you're ready! Your icons always look very professional so I'm sure the drawings will look great too :)

It's not the dissertation itself but the whole attitude towards art in our university ie what is said about the art is more important than the art itself, which is ridiculous. To prove my point, I wrote my last essay with pure disdain* with all the kind of rubbish they like to hear and they thought the essay was brilliant and "written with a real interest in the subject"...I was part amused and part angry lol.

*(get me with the big word :P )

Oh noes! Ian disapproval sucks! I saw it twice (I just HAD to go back) at the Lowry in Manchester. It's all wacky and arty inside. No autograph this time, there was a big queue outside the stage door.

That's because of Photoshop, not me! OMG, if you want to scare yourself I'm on deviantart. I'm not good enough to be playing with the big boys and girls yet but I thought that internet shame would force me to improve. Please bear in mind I have NEVER drawn anything, ever, so I'm starting from scratch.

HAHA!! Even when you're making fun of them they're too stupid to notice! You'll be fine, only 1 year to go!

*Hides from scary big word*

Flu, one of the only useful things uni has taught me is that you shouldn't say anything bad about your work before you even show it. Considering that you've never done this before, your drawings are excellent!!!

The one I'm looking at now, "D9 Wikus with Gun", you keep putting yourself down for the drawing of the gun. It looks fine!!! Guns and other mechanical stuff are very hard to draw (I find it difficult to draw) but your's looks convincing to me, and you've got the guy's arms and hands in the right places! ;) I don't know anything about this movie but I like the drawings: the comments on all of the drawings are positive, and I agree with them ;)

I have to say, the A Team one is my favourite lol. Especially Sharlto because I can tell that you spent the most time looking at him ;p I love his face!!! And the cigar guy is just hilarious! The only change I'd make to Mr.T is to make him a bit more tough-looking - he's been on the Snickers bars for a while ;)

10 out of 10 :)

So what if you use Photoshop? You're obviously using it properly: I can tell that you've taken colour, text and placing of objects into consideration whenever you do an icon. You don't just slap things together or use effects for no reason. As long as you have an appreciation for doing things by hand (using pencil, paint etc) and have respect for art, it's fine to use a medium that you're comfortable with. Your icons look classy and I stand by that. ;)

Hey flu! Glad to see you back. I can't believe it's been so long. Time flies I guess. I'm sorry to hear about your RL problems. Welcome back to the world of deceptive perfection ;-)
Sharlto Copley, that's an interesting name. His face seems familiar to me... he reminds me of Luke Wilson!

HI!!! It's really nice to be back. I'm so glad everyone's ok and I'm chuffed to read about your acting success! Congratulations! Ian's been a real inspiration to the group. Aww.

I just googled Luke Wilson! HOLY CRAP. You're right! I guess Tom Cruise and Ralph Fiennes had more mutant offspring!

I thought it was Luke Wilson (or "The Man from Legally Blonde" as I called him ha) the first time I saw Sharlto as well! :O I would have said sooner but I couldn't remember his name or be bothered to google it lol.
