HELP?

potty training is a nightmare.......................

no matter how often i ask tj if he needs to go he still goes in his undies. help!!!!!!!
any suggestions? 
pullups dont seem to help the problem they only encourage going in the undies. tj thinks they are diapers

Really, all you can do when you start with them is start taking them every 20-30 minutes. Even if they don't have to go they at least get used to sitting on the potty. Pharaoh had a rough time at the start but we progressed from 20 minutes to 1 hour. Now she understands that she has to go potty in the chair. We used pull-ups at the beginning and then after a few months we went with them only during naps and bedtime. Patience. It will be ok.

It is really hard.
Make sure you know where the bathrooms are at all the locations you go to.
The pullups DO seem to hinder progress. Pharaoh was much more distressed when she'd wet her underwear than those things.
Always give him positive encouragement or praise when he sits on the potty chair, especially if he manages to put something in it. hehe
Try different techniques like stars for each time he goes in the potty chair, or a special toy he can sit and play with JUST when he's sitting on the potty, etc. With Pharaoh I (at first) gave her a smartie or two when she'd use the potty chair successfully, and we had to take her really often in the beginning (like Fred said) then space it out farther as she got better at holding it.
She went through a phase where she kind-of regressed, but I think she might have just not had the muscles for 'holding it' developed and strong enough yet.
She's doing great now.
So there IS a light at the end of the tunnel.
