regions of sorrow, doleful shades, where peace and rest can never dwell

Whew. The last two weeks have...not been fun. But, after years (years!) of angsting and wallowing and waffling, I think I'm finally dropping my English major. It's like ditching the boy who brings you chocolates and roses and is an excellent conversational partner for the boy who keeps you up all night and then doesn't call but keeps you coming ( Read more... )

*laughs* Don't feel bad, dear. Sometimes, the thing we think we want to do isn't always the thing we actually need to do. I don't know what happened in the last two weeks, but I'm sure it was relevatory and made you see something in yourself. Besides, there are a lot of folks who change their majors, sometimes in their very last semester... and they've done just fine. You will, too!

And English nerd? Well, I was a fine arts major, though I started out in classical music, and even though I focused on art, I'm still a classical music nerd, as evidenced by THIS. So sad when you get a truly nerdy joke... and you're the only one laughing!! Hysterically!!

And you know, I found this old, old copy of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight at a library sale that was both in English, and in Middle English, and I actually had to fight over it (in a very calm and nerdy sort of fashion) with a guy who was just three seconds too late in picking it up. He actually tried to charm me into giving it to him by telling me I looked just like a ( ... )

What does it mean that the beginning of this entry made me think of Matt Bomer and White Collar? And now I'm having flashbacks of our HS conversation... this is all your fault =P lol.

I'm glad you were able to resolve your decision in a way you seem to be happy about. Cheers to being an English non-major! Or would it be non-English major?

huh, I suppose you have a point there. (I'm assuming you mean about all the good ones being gay. unless you mean all the chocolates and roses stuff, in which case, I don't know what it means.)

this point continues to irk me. irk irk irk! It will continue to irk me until I find a good one who is not gay, not fictional, and not just a friend. which will be when I'm thirty, my horoscope says so! (for real. my family had a good laugh at me about that, until they realized that I was totally embracing not having to worry about boys for serious until I am 29.) but I am still irked by the fact that wonderful available non-friends-ladder boys do not seem to exist locally.

It irks me, too! Though I haven't actually had any really good guy friends who turned out to be gay (yet). I'm dreading the day, truly. Meanwhile, I lament how all the good ones on TV and in books do seem to lean that way. *sigh*

I wonder what my horoscope says, lol. Though I'm sure my parents don't want me thinking about that 'til I'm 30 (and I can't say I'm too sad about that; keeps the boys out of my hair. Well, ok, not entirely, but I don't have to take the ones that do try to get into my hair, so to speak, too seriously). Ok, that came out more confusing than I meant it to.

*hug* for you, because I completely sympathize
