Bosses are like assholes: everybody has one

Jan 28, 2010 18:19

My boss is self-centered, under the best of circumstances…so I should be used to this type of thing. I usually just take it with a grain of salt. But today, it really rubbed me the wrong way.

He has me helping him review resumes to interview for his (temporary) admin position…temporary, meaning his old admin will be back by August. So it’s really not that big of a deal who he chooses, because he/she will only be around for 6 months.

We had a meeting scheduled yesterday to narrow down the choices, but he stayed home sick with the flu. Today he still has the flu, but dragged his germy ass in to the office for a rescheduled meeting at 10:00.

10:00 comes and goes, and he’s not around. He reschedules the meeting for 10:30…and he’s still not around. (He’s in the building somewhere, just MIA.) I was even hesitant to go out to lunch, because I didn’t know when I would be summoned.

So what time does he finally call me into the meeting? About 20 minutes before I’m supposed to leave…then proceeds to shut the door and cough his germy flu gunk all over the general manager’s assistant and I for the better part of the next hour, as he reads verbatim through the document I sent him via email yesterday so I wouldn’t need to be exposed to his virus.

So *cough cough* I’ve decided that I’m calling in “sick” on Monday and telling him that he gave me his flu. I could use a 3-day weekend, and I think I’ve earned it.

Feel free to skip it, but it makes me feel better just to get the rant ~out there~
