Memories of 9/11 and a prayer

Sep 11, 2003 05:41

Working as usual. Our department takes a break about 8am. After coming downstairs from the cafe, radios could be heard across the plant.... It is unusual to have EVERY radioa tuned to the same station. Over 5,000 people praying in their own ways, listening to the same thing. I've never heard that before, nor since. I doubt I will ever again. Many of us gathered together a formed a prayer circle, holding hands, taking turns, saying prayers for those fallen, and for familes....Although we knew that we could not possibly feel the pain of those in New York, we felt our own measure of pain for them....

Lord....

This has been a hard two years for those that lost loved ones in New York. They are experiencing things that they never expected they would. They have been bombarded by eveything you could imagine to bring that pain back into their lives through the media over the last two years, and especially this last week. It's hard enough for them , and society hasn't really helped them much.

Lord, My prayer is that you will wrap Your tender and loving arms around each person that is hurting as a result of this tragedy. And I know that You do without even asking. There are those that don't even believe in You, those that believe in a God of another kind, like those from other countries, yet - You are such a forgiving and loving God that You don't care, You love them regardless. I thank You for that.

Today, especially Lord, could You send an extra measure of protection and comfort to those who lost friends and family on this day. To the outside world it may seem like they are getting along with their lives, yet You know Lord, that inside they are burning with constant pain. Bring them comfort today Lord. Bring them some little thing that may cause them to smile a little today. Help them to feel like they are not alone, and that the hurt they feel will get more tolerable as time goes by, even though it may never go away all together. Wrap Your arms around them as they cry, whether it be on the outside or inside. And above all Lord, Bless them. They've been through more than many of us will ever be through in a lifetime.... Let them know, let them Feel that You love them.

For these things I pray in Jesus name..... Amen
