Going from...


 to

PS CS2; uses selective coloring

Notes
This tutorial will not work for every icon.
Bases similar to this example will work best.
Be sure to play with opacities and layers to fit your own needs.

Step 1.
Duplicate your base once.
Sharpen it once (If needed).
Set this layer to screen at 100%.


Step 2.
Create a new layer and fill it with (#041f35).
Set this layer to exclusion at 100%.


Step 3.
Create a new layer and fill it with (#fcf8e0).
Set this layer to multiply at 100%.


Step 4.
Create a new selective coloring layer.
Input the following.

Reds
cyan (-100)
yellow (+100)

Yellows
cyan (+100)
yellow (-100)

Neutrals
cyan (+50)
magenta (+25)
yellow (-20)
black (+15)


Step 5.
Duplicate your base and drag it to the top.
Set this layer to softlight at 100%.


Step 6.
Finish with brushes, text, etc.
