In regards to the impersonalization of the death, I've been thinking about that sort of thing a lot ever since seeing a gunplay action movie a few years ago (I believe it was A Better Tomorrow, to be specific), where the hero goes crazy and kills about fifty generic brand bad guys. Following up on the previous post, did a quick skim of livejournals and it just seems to add to the evidence for the people being self-centered camp. Most of the entries, presumably reflective of a person's thoughts and feelings, are about their days, or situations, or who they like or don't like.
