Shades of Michael Keaton
It's official. Heath Ledger is The Joker in the new Batman film. An odd bit of casting, to say the least.
Warner just announced Ledger's name as Batman's nemesis for the new Christopher Nolan film The Dark Knight. Reprising their roles are everyone else, including Christian Bale, and Ledger's casting continues the tradition that no major male character in a Nolan Batman movie will ever be a real American.
When I read the press release my initial reaction was to scoff, but I bit my tongue. The announcement of Michael Keaton as Batman in the Tim Burton film was as odd as this one, but I was sold by Keaton after I saw the movie. And I trust that Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing.
