We assume almost everything.True. We assume the sun will rise tomorrow morning simply because it always has. Scientists would argue this by snarkily saying that the Universe follows certain laws, but again we only ASSUME that it follows these laws because we've never seen it deviate from them. So if we acknowledge that everything is an assumption and that we can never truly KNOW something to be true (or, for that matter, untrue), we can infer something about the nature of "reality". What is real? I'd say it's a combination of what you perceive and what you assume. If my landlord's dog pokes his head around the corner, I ASSUME that his body is attached, hidden from my view. I don't, however, perceive that his head has a body attached to it. So, based on experience (having assumed similar things in the past and finding them to be "true"), my reality involves a full-bodied dog rather than a disembodied head. If, however, I'd never seen either a dog or a corner before, I'd perceive a floating head and might also ( ... )
