I didn't forget; I've been holding off, since I didn't want to rush this post. Add to that the post-Camp NaNo trauma, and, well, I decided that my NaNo Post-Mortem took precedence.

So, that being said, you should technically be almost a week into reading Iron Fist, unless you're me, ( Read more... )

Oh, good! I was just wondering how many of these I'd missed being only sporadically online the past few weeks. :-)

listing everything I love about WS would basically entail me quoting 90% of it, so let me instead try to think of things I didn't like...

....

Hmm, I got nothing. I was a little surprised to have Kell as a major POV character, but he doesn't come off nearly as Mary Sue as Horn did. I do agree with you that his faults were a bit overdone--but then again, that seemed to fit with the squadron of misfits.

I actually prefer Aaron's characterization of Wedge. Mike does Tycho, Mirax, Booster; Aaron does Wedge, Janson, Face. I'm happy with this division of labor.

The "honesty to on" discussion? Has actually played an embarrassingly huge role in how I approach my own romantic relationships.

(Mike IS awesome in person. As is Aaron--who's even punnier IRL.)

Wraith Squadron is one of my all-time favourite summer reads. I'm torn between that and Iron Fist.

I find Kell eventually grew on me. Somehow I got a little more into his plight and I don't know... or maybe I just became more tolerant over time. Donos too - I was pretty young the first time I ever read the series, and I think I had to age a little bit to truly appreciate his angst.

Face + Phanan are my ultimate BFF duo. Can I just wrap them up in a bow?!

Definitely one of those novels I wish had more room. I think I could read about Wraith-antics forever. I was sad to see them get shuffled off-screen as the series went on.

One of my all-time favorites, the book that gave us Wraith Squadron.

I love the Wraiths, in all their screwed-up glory-- Rogue Squadron is great, don't get me wrong, but they're the best of the New Republic. I find it a little easier to identify with the loser squadron *g*

I don't even think I could pick a favorite if I tried, they're all so fantastic in their own ways, and I am so glad they got to show up in later books!
