I don't think there are a lot of places - if any - where Han really exercises his authority over anyone in this book. And if he does, it's usually in the terms of "ZOMG THIS IS NOW TOP SEKRIT SHADDAP ALREADY!"
And I suspect that you're right about the common ground and lack of Jedi skillz. It was just weird for me to read about them as friends, since it's not a friendship I'm used to imagining where Wedge is concerned. I'm more readily capable of imagining any of his friendships within the squadron, since that's where much of Wedge's character is defined.

Oh, Solo Command. Your mutiny scene is a thing of absolute beauty and wonder. ("Step three: we find Zsinj and blow him up.")
A few years ago during an X-wing reread (do it early and often!) I check out CoPL from the library to follow up SC. Even after that reread, I still remember almost nothing about it. ...I think it's the one on Dathomir with the bizarre Force witches?
Gara/Lara/Kirney's (have we figured out a portmanteau for her yet??) arc was really well done, I think. Yes, she changed, but it wasn't sudden. It was well-supported by the story and traumatic and realistic.
I think that "I could let you kiss my Wookiee" might beat out "nice rear, Lieutenant" for best line, though. ;-P

Yeah. It's the one on Dathomir with the Force witches. I read it a long while back and I'm still not sure what happened either. I just recall Han winning the planet in a Sabacc game, him and Luke going out to see it, finding Iron Fist in orbit around the planet and then crash landing dirt-side.
One was mentioned in the other discussion post, but otherwise, no. We don't have an official portmanteau for her yet. Sadface.
Hahaha, yeah :) The Wookiee-kissing line is almost a throwback to ANH, which is cool.
