*massive gigglesnort* ZOMG, my mind went RIGHT to Data and wondering if David was also "fully functional," lol! ;)
You know, it's weird because I find the Aliens movies interesting, especially with how they have Ripley as a really strong female protagonist, which is awesome. And Prometheus has a lot of things that sound interesting to me as well (including another strong female protagonist in the form of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw up there ;) ).
But. I've never made it completely through ANY of the Aliens movies. They squick me SO much that I just can't watch them, so I know full out that Prometheus will do me the exact same way. So I feel kinda silly for my interest in it, since I know I'll have a hard time watching it all of the way through!
Too bad they don't make a skip-the-gore function for movies like this that would let you hop right over the icky bits, lol! ;) ♥♥♥!!!
out of everyone on my f-list, you are one of a VERY short list that I knew would know exactly what I meant by the Data comment, and reply about him being "fully functional" lol
I haven't seen Prometheus yet either. I have seen all the others, but I'm not a huge fan of gore myself, I prefer things a little more "fade to black" or slightly off-screen.
I'll let you know what I think if I even find time and money to go see it :)
Hee, my best friend and I were (and still are ;) ) MAJOR Data fans and that whole storyline with Tasha Yar and the fully functional thing fueled our *squee* for many, many years, lol! ;) \o/
Ooo, I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about Prometheus if you do go see it! :D I've seen reviews that run the gamut from "awesome!" to "horrifyingly bad!" O_O so I guess you never know how it's going to come across to somebody. I totally agree, though, I would rather not have gore shoved right in my face in a movie (though I'm a wimp with really intense psychological horror, too, that doesn't necessarily show much of anything but is all really heavy anticipation O_O ).
Lol, what madness, indeed! Whatever was I thinking? \o/ I certainly have never needed canon to help me ship pairings, there's no need to start now, right? :D ♥!
From here on out, I decree that all scary alien films need to have sparkly pink hearts in them. *nodnod* *decrees it* That would at least up the "...THE HECK?" factor, right? ;)
Scary alien: *walks down the hall with menacing music playing* *random pink sparkly hearts suddenly burst out all around it*

it's just, I'm left wondering if he's a Ken doll, or more like Data, lol

Sparkly pink hearts make an alien film. At least, I've always thought so. ;)
