CW's Beauty and the Beast

I admit, my first reaction to hearing that they were remaking my beloved 1987 "Beauty and the Beast" was sort of "NooooOOOOOOOOoooooOOOoooOOooo!!!" *throws self dramatically to the floor* I mean, come on, how could you possibly reboot Catherine and Vincent's epic love story? How could you even hope to find somebody who could match Ron Perlman's ( Read more... )

It could be interesting. I was in love with the original, though. I mean, thoroughly, romantically in love with the show. And this new one does feel more like Beauty Meets Hulk, but you know, that could go well, too. And The CW, unlike certain othere networks *coughs*Fox*coughs* actually gives its sci/fi fantasy shows a shot.

Oh my stars, do I ever hear you on the UTTER LOVE AFFAIR with the original! This was the first fandom that I actually sought out fanzines and was willing to PAY for fic from it (and luckily I found a great one that also had Phantom fic/artwork in it as well, so it was a great two-for-the-price-of-one deal, lol! ;) ). If there would've been an Internet like there is now, I would've been alllllll over fics/vids/icons/etc. for this show, it was such an all-consuming thing for me!

"Beauty Meets Hulk" is exactly what my first impression was as well, lol! ;) Since I dig the Hulk, that will work for me if it's done well. I don't expect them to do a faithful recreation of the original show but I hope that it'll turn out to be, I don't know, respectful, I guess? While still being it's own beast, so to speak ( ... )

I'm still not sold on the new one, but I'll give it a shot. I LOVED the original so, so much. Vincent *swoon* although I managed to completely block out the third season, lol.

Oh yay, another fellow Vincent/B&B fan! *high five of solidarity* I'm the same: I really, truly adored the original and Vincent in particular! And of course, there was NO third season. *Jedi mind trick hand wave* :P (That was the first time that I remember feeling just utterly betrayed by a show. Like, how could they POSSIBLY think that it was okie-dokie to twist the show like that??? o_@ *shudders*)

Anyway, I hope the new one will turn out to be an interesting beast (har ;) ) on its own. It wouldn't work if it just recreated the original, IMO, but like I was saying to amberfocus, I hope that it will still manage to be respectful to the original, if that makes sense? ;)

So sorry it's taken me so long to respond! *smishes you* ♥♥♥!!!

Oh, I absolutely adored the show back in the day! :D It really influenced and helped shape my love of fantasy. :D

I hope that the new version will be sort of respectful to the original while still being interesting on its own! *fingers crossed* Like you said, we'll see! ;)

Sorry for taking so long to respond! :( *hugs* ♥♥♥!!!

I figure it can go either way: be a cool new version of my old, beloved show or it'll be cringe-worthy. :S I've got my fingers crossed that it will be the former! ;) But you never can tell... O_O ;)

Sorry for not responding before now! :( *hugs* ♥♥♥!!!
