I'm so useless at this sort of thing.
I don't even know where to start with getting my hair from dyed black to dyed red.

I think i might just give up on doing it myself and go to a salon...do Pepi's do colouring??

i want red hair so bad now...

Just get a bleaching kit and follow the instructions, it really can't be easier, or if you like come around here and I'll help you, I've done it before a few times.

i second the bleaching. you may have to bleach it twice if you've got a lot of dye in it, but seeing as you havent got much hair and you're going to dye it red after you probably won't have to

eek, getting black dye out is gonna be a pain. don't kill your hair with bleach if you are growing it out. get a color stripper like effasol. sally's beauty should have it. i'm not sure of the brands available in the uk but there must be something. the hair board's dying section is great for info on this topic and there are a few registered hair dressers on there who can help you with the technical stuff. you may have to bleach and tone some after, but a color remover will lift allot of the black dye and it shouldn't be as harsh as bleaching it too much.

don't go to pepi's - they charge a fucking fortune.
i have shitloads of bleach left over from when i was trying to silver-ify my hair, so you're welcome to come round here and let me have a bash at it. it won't matter if it's not totally white beforehand because red will take fine over orangy bleached hair, and you don't have enough hair there to panic about 'ruining' it.

What she said. I stripped black out of my hair to go blonde a few years ago and you'll end up at first with violently orange hair but that should be bleached enough to dye red.

Bleach it, bleach it and bleach it again!!! that'll do the trick ;) if u go to sallys you can get a BIIIIG bottle of peroxide and a BIIIIG box of powder bleach :D
