Samuraicon was a lot of fun this year. The turnout seemed bigger than the last time I was there, though that might just be a trick of perspective ( Read more... )

"Super great hideout" my big hairy butt, pal! But all's well that ends well, right?

Need someone to fill in, eh? I've got lots of experience wearing Blue Badger suits! I'd be happy to take the job as long as that Steel Samurai costume doesn't give a rash.

I could certainly make some inquiries for you, Detective Gumshoe, but wouldn't that conflict with your duties as a member of the police force?

Hmm, good point, pal...

Well how about this then? If you guys ever need a substitute for the substitute, you know who to call!

Damn, this is unbelievable. Larry's a friend of mine--I'm sure he didn't mean any harm.

....By the way, how much would you say being the Steel Samurai in a stage show pays?

You seem to have quite a few friends and acquaintances with criminal records, Mr. Wright.

I don't know off-hand, but I can look into it for you.

You'd be surprised how many hours some of these people can, like, dedicate to cosplaying, Andrews. They're super scared of messing up and getting picked on by their so-called friends. It can get totally vicious! But it's awesome you had a good time.

Haha, I read that guy's journal. What a joker. Now I'm wondering what happened myself--I'm sure he wouldn't have just walked in the cops' door by accident. He was a total spaz.

I gotta say, the studio who makes these shows seems to go through actors like tissues! It must be a real pain in the butt.

I've read a few tutorials, but I didn't realize there was a competitive component to that community. Very interesting.

Unfortunately, the person accused of this crime seems to be fairly typical of actors in the Samurai franchise for the past few years - excepting Mr. Powers, of course.

((Funny you mention those samurais, uh...)) chevrolady June 2 2010, 23:31:44 UTC
Yeah, seriously. If someone, like, thinks they're better than someone else for spending, like, 300 bucks on a costume, they're outta their mind if you ask me!

Oh yeah? Umm...just out of curiosity, do you like, know anything about Matt Engarde's case? He was, um...what was it...oh yeah, the Nickel Samurai? He's one of my "neighbors." He told me he's in here for, like, hiring a hit on someone.

Yes, I saw that it turned out to be that young man friend who was responsible for the disappearance of the costume. What a shame, as I believe he was of some assistance in the investigation at the embassy.

Hopefully it was all just a misunderstanding, and it will be cleared up soon.

Regardless, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at the Steel Samurai convention, Ms. Andrews.
