For "Wanda"

To say Eden's pissed off would be an understatement. On the plus side, she woke up with two eyes. On the minus, there'd been the fucking scary doll, the fact that she didn't trust anybody with her body except her, and the realisation of exactly how Brendan felt when he saw her ( Read more... )

Davos generally wandered down to the beach when he was feeling troubled. He had not been on the island long enough to think of any of the buildings as old friends but the sea would never be a stranger to him and, when even his body wasn't his own, he needed that comforting familiarity more than ever.

When he saw a man up ahead, he thought briefly of avoiding him but, unarmed and in a woman's body, he could afford to make enemies even less than usual. So, out of fear of seeming rude, he called out in greeting before he got too close.

"Good day, ser,"

At the sound of the voice, Eden looks up, the cigarette part way to her lips. To Brendan's lips. The woman walking towards her is pretty, bloody pretty, and there's a flutter in her belly that's reminiscent of how Brendan's body had felt when she's set eyes on herself earlier. An echo of that.

Whoever this girl was, it was a safe bet that Brendan liked her.

Eden slips the cigarette between her lips, smiling easily. It feels so strange.

"Hey."

Davos had been about to reply but, when he looked into the man's face, he felt a tug of desire towards him and it was an odd enough feeling to stop him in his tracks. The man was fair enough he supposed, though not as pretty as some of the boys Salla bought and sold in the free cities, but he was not used to judging such things. He had been married for most of his life and, while he had visited whores and taken other lovers both before and after he'd married Marya, he was an old man and had stopped looking for such things a good time ago. Nor had he ever been the type to take a boy for his lover.

"Gods be good," he whispered fearfully as his, no longer maimed, left hand reached at his chest for a pouch that wasn't there. "This is an ill business."

Now there's a look and Eden can almost feel Brendan's eyes turn all liquid and puppy-like and sympathetic. She rummages in the pocket of Brendan's combats for her matches.

"You too, huh, mate?" She lights her cigarette and inhales deeply. And chokes on it. Jesus, she hasn't been laid in three months and now she can't even smoke? When Brendan gets his body back, she's going to strangle him on principle.

She thumps at her chest with her free hand.
She hasn't choked on a cigarette since she was twelve.
