Pairing: Sunny/Yuri

Rating: G

The setting is 2008 hiatus, guys T.T

The room went dark after Yuri flicked the switch of their bedroom’s light off, “Good night, Soonkyu..”

“Yah!” Sunny automatically responded to the abuse of her Korean name.

A piece of Hershey’s Hug flew over to Yuri’s direction and it managed to hit her head, causing a yelp from the said girl.

“Oh you’re gonna pay for that, you little..” The line never finished for Yuri was already busy tickling the life out of Sunny.

Sunny was a ticklish girl, but so was Yuri. They both knew it was a war that neither could win, but they dived into it and went on ‘suicide mode’, hoping the other would give up first. Their tickling war lasted for a few minutes until the both of them collapsed on Sunny’s bed, breathless.

“What was that for?” Sunny slapped Yuri’s arm which was sprawled over beside her in her double-sized bed.

“You should stop throwing things at people, Sunny.. It’s not good.” The atmosphere in the room instantly shifted from festive to that of solemn silence. Yuri’s response confused Sunny. The lack of tone in Yuri’s remark made it hard for Sunny to interpret its meaning.

‘Was it meant to be playful or serious?’ Sunny pondered for a while with a furrowed brow. Feeling inadequate to crack Yuri’s cryptic phrase, she turned her head to her right to where Yuri was.

Although the lights were off, Sunny saw that silvery line that escaped her roommate’s eyes. The shorter of the two sighed as she finally understood the meaning behind Yuri’s remark.

“You can cry if you need to.. You don’t have to be strong all the time.. I’m here.” Whispered Sunny while she wiped Yuri’s tears away.

Yuri’s expression didn’t change although she slowly repositioned herself so that she was facing her roommate and silently cried her eyes out while hugging her.

Their bedroom was a silent witness to the heart breaks of its occupants. The roommates shared the same worry, they feared that their dreams would be snatched away from them and wondered if it was actually already long gone and they had yet to realize it. All the uncertainties and desperations [apparently desperation can't be plural] within them were left unspoken, but the silence between them didn’t deny them from understanding each others’ hearts.

By now the both of them were silently weeping and trying to comfort the other.

“I feel like the sky is falling..” Yuri whispered in between her tears, voicing her concerns.

“Let’s stay close together... Even when it happens...” Sunny said, trying to assure Yuri although she was also in the same condition.

“Even when it means we are no longer allowed to dream?” Yuri’s question shattered Sunny’s already broken heart. It was the very same question that she had been pondering about.

“Yes.. Even when we aren’t allowed to dream anymore..” Sunny closed her eyes and kissed Yuri’s forehead, hinting that she would definitely protect the girl’s heart like it’s her own.

“I believe in you.. I believe in all of us.. let’s be strong for each other..” Sunny smiled for the first time, gathering her last line of hope and trying to support Yuri at the same time.

The edges of Yuri’s lips curved upwards as soon as she saw Sunny’s. She playfully hit Sunny’s arm and said, “And I thought I was supposed to be the one protecting you, Soonkyu..”

This time, the sound of her name didn’t feel like a mockery, but a comfort from an old friend.
