Dragon*Con

This is fairly long-winded, so I decided to cut it.

Dragon*Con was entirely excellent. When I first got there, I thought it wasn't going to be that fun, but then I realized I didn't have to stick around the people I came with, and immediately started to have a better time. I think it actually helped that my phone died - the only time they could get in touch with me is when I asked people to use their cell phones for a moment.

It was surreal, I saw at least three dozen people I knew there - from school, from the mall, from Firespark!, and some that I met at Dragon*Con several years back. I saw Voltaire three times, which was excellent - he played a song which isn't released yet twice, and I have it stuck in my head. I looked for it for an hour yesterday, and if it's on the internet, it's very well hidden. I guess I'll have to wait until he releases the CD he says'll be out before the end of the year.

I got invited to several parties, but, err, I've heard about parties at Dragon*Con, and I wasn't really interested. Well, that's not true - I was very interested, but I didn't want to find out about them the hard way, if you understand what I mean.

I ended up running around with Bryon Pageant almost the entire last day. We were vampire ninjas. I took a picture of him with Voltaire, who looks terrified. If/when I get that picture I'll post it, it's hilarious. He also got his picture taken with Aria Giovanni, his goddess. On the note of women - I have the phone numbers, now, of three of the hottest girls I saw there. Bwahaha.

The costumes this year were excellent - superior to the ones I saw the last time I went. Actually, might be because I knew almost all of them this year. There were some that had clearly been through quite a few uses - like a Sephiroth - but the vast majority were shining new. I counted at least seven Phantoms of the Opera, a like number of Christines, and the obligatory legion of stormtroopers. There was one man dressed as young Obi-Wan who was the spitting image of him - I'd have sworn that it was the actor.

I lost half of the stuff I brought, because I'm dumb. I set it down somewhere and forgot about it. I do this often. The only stuff I managed to keep was some of the freebies and the Voltaire CD, which was really the only valuable stuff. Well, actually, I'd have liked to keep the Midnight Syndicate CD, but I can probably find it somewhere on the internet - I paid for it, so I have no guilt about downloading the tracks on that CD.

Anyone else on my friends list go? If so, please make a long-winded post about it.
