Moving?

I am getting really tired of lj's interstitial ads jumping at out at my visitors. (I don't see them because of NoScript on Firefox.) I'm thinking about moving to another blogging service, but there's a whoooole lotta options. I'm considering Dreamwitdth, Tumblr, or Blogspot. Any thoughts ( Read more... )

blogspot is 'pro' and tumblr is really popular.
wordpress also has free hosting too.

I have ad blocker for chrome, thing works so well you don't even notice you have the extenshion cause it just cancels out the code and fills in the space with the site content.

I went to blogger for the very same reason. I hear good things about wordpress, but I find blogger easier to customize. I wouldn't be arsed with dreamwidth if I were you. Many people like Tumblr, but not as many people are as familiar with the interface as they are more traditional blogs, and some people don't like the 'reblogging' feature (think retweets, but for blogs).

I really liked LJ, esp. for the communities, but the ads, trolls, and bots just got to be too much.

I have a dreamwidth but it's a pain in the ass, really. Can't compare to LJ but wants to be like LJ. I moved to blogspot but I'm also using tumblr just as a dump for images. Right now I'm super happy with blogspot, though!! wherever you go, let us know so we may bookmark the hell out of that new blog.

LJ is the only blog platform I'm using, but I do most of my reading these days through rss/atom subscriptions via google reader. If you keep entries public (not friendslocked or whatever the platform equivalent is), you'll be easy to follow on any service.

Wordpress is pretty neat, if you want your stuff on your own webspace. It does content management (which I've been testing it for), but I think you can set it up just to power a blog on a normal static site.

I love tumblr to blog around. Since it's really based in pictures it's become my favourite way of spreading arts.
